When Intel is the answer

Not faster. Not cheaper. Sometimes simply required.

We will not pretend Xeon beats EPYC on price per core, because it does not. This line exists for the cases where the choice was made for you — by a licence, a compiler flag, or a vendor support matrix.

AVX-512, actually present.

Not a marketing checkbox: the 512-bit vector units are there and stay clocked. Encoders, inference runtimes and numeric libraries that dispatch on them will find them.

Licences counted per socket.

Some enterprise software is priced per socket rather than per core. A single-socket Xeon with 16 fast cores can cost less in total than a cheaper machine with two.

Vendor support matrices.

When the support contract says Intel, an AMD machine turns every incident into an argument. This line ends that conversation.

Two sockets, 64 cores.

The dual Gold 6338 exists for the same reason as the dual EPYC — one chassis, one invoice, a whole private cloud — with the Intel instruction set.

No upsells

In the price of every Intel Xeon server

No protected-IP tier, no per-snapshot charge, no support plan to buy.

The whole machine

One tenant. Nothing else boots on it, nothing else touches the disks, nothing else shares the memory controller.

IPMI, not a support ticket

Full out-of-band control: power, console, virtual media. Reinstall at three in the morning without asking anyone.

IPv4 + a routed /64

One IPv4 included, a /29 on request, and a whole /64 of IPv6. Reverse DNS is yours to set.

DDoS filtering

Layer 3/4 scrubbing upstream of the port, on by default, at no charge and with nothing to enable.

Reinstall or bring an ISO

Twenty prepared images, or mount your own and watch it boot over the console. Nothing survives a wipe.

API and SSH keys

Order, reinstall, reboot and destroy from your own code. Keys installed at handover, password login off.

Before you order

What people ask before renting a Xeon server

Anything else, support answers in minutes — and says no plainly when the answer is no.

Open a ticket
Should I take this or the EPYC?

EPYC, unless something forces your hand: more cores per euro and more PCIe lanes. Take Xeon when a licence is counted per socket, a binary dispatches on AVX-512, or a support matrix names Intel. Support will say so plainly if EPYC is the better buy.

Is AVX-512 enabled on every build?

On the Silver and Gold parts, yes. The E-2388G is a single-socket workstation part without it — it is here for the clock and the ECC. The plan table lists what each one carries.

Can I get a specific stepping or SKU?

Often, and within a week. Tell support what the vendor matrix demands and we will source it or say we cannot. We would rather lose the order than hand you a machine that fails a compliance check.

Do I get IPMI and my own ISO?

Yes, as on every bare-metal line: power, console and virtual media out of band, twenty prepared images, or your own build mounted over the network and watched as it boots.
