About that licence

Most hosts rent you Windows at a markup you never see itemised

A resold Windows licence usually adds $15 to $25 a month, quietly folded into the plan price. Over three years that is more than the server. Bring your own and the line simply is not there.

No licence on the invoice.

The price you see is the machine. What you install on it, and under which licence, is between you and Microsoft.

Mount your own ISO.

Evaluation, Server Core, an image your employer already owns — upload it, mount it, install it. The out-of-band console shows you the whole boot.

KVM with VirtIO drivers ready.

The drivers are on a second virtual disk at first boot, so the installer sees the NVMe volume and the network without you hunting for a floppy image in 2026.

Eight minutes, not sixty seconds.

A Windows image is an order of magnitude bigger than a Linux one and it has a first boot to get through. It is slower here than everywhere else on this site, and we would rather say so.

No upsells

What every Windows VPS includes — the licence excepted

No protected-IP tier, no per-snapshot charge, no support plan to buy.

Full root, KVM

Real hardware virtualisation. Your own kernel, Docker, nested VMs, sysctl. Not a container wearing a server costume.

IPv4 + a routed /64

One IPv4 on every plan, more on request, and a whole /64 of IPv6 so you never subnet a /128.

DDoS filtering

Layer 3/4 scrubbing upstream of the port, on by default, at no charge and with nothing to enable.

Two snapshot slots

Take one before you break something. Restore in under a minute, as often as you like.

Custom ISO and console

Mount any image, including your own hardened build, and watch it boot over the serial console.

API and SSH keys

Provision, resize, snapshot and destroy from your own code. Keys installed at order time, password login off.

Do you sell Windows licences?

No. Not as an upsell, not as a bundle, not on request. That is the entire point of this line: you already have a licence, or you buy one where you choose, and we do not take a margin on it.

Can I use a Windows evaluation image?

Yes, and it is a reasonable way to test the machine — the 180-day evaluation runs fine here. What you do at the end of it is your business, not ours.

Is RDP open by default?

On first boot, yes, on the standard port, with the credentials in your panel. Change both immediately. If you would rather it were closed until you say otherwise, ask support and we will hand it over with the firewall shut.

Why is it more expensive than the Linux tiers?

Windows wants more I/O headroom for the same visible workload, so the provisioning ratio is tighter on these hosts. It is roughly 30% more per spec — and still less than the same spec with a resold licence folded in.
